About Roger

Mayflower Restoration & Conservation was established in 2008 by Roger Thompson.

Roger attended the Rycotewood Furniture Centre in Thame, Oxfordshire as a mature student where he regularly achieved distinctions for his practical work. With a background in Marine Engineering he has been able to transfer his considerable skills to his woodworking to produce work of the highest precision. Following his time at Rycotewood, Roger worked for a well known Cotswolds based antiques’ dealer before setting out on his own.

His enthusiasm and passion for furniture restoration and the pride he takes in his work is obvious when you speak to him. He puts as much effort into restoring an item of low value as he does a high end piece of furniture. He understands that to his customers the piece of furniture he is restoring is special and that there is often an emotional attachment.

Working from his well equipped workshop in Hilmarton Roger uses traditional materials and techniques to produce work of the highest quality. Customers are welcome to visit the workshop with their furniture (by appointment) to discuss their requirements or home visits can be arranged to view and provide estimates. A free local collection and delivery service is also available.  It is worth mentioning that as well as providing competitive estimates, all work is currently VAT FREE.

The next time you are considering entrusting your precious heirloom into a restorer’s care please consider contacting Mayflower Restoration.
